The Tanshuzui site is located on a hillside in the southwest of Tanshuzui village, Xiafan township, Ruiehang city, Jiangxi, and occupies an area of 10,000sq m. This time of excavation revealed eight ash-pits, six house-foundations, two ash-trenches and eight tombs. The unearthed objects include pottery, stone tools and proto-poreelain. In the pottery are the li tripod, dou stemmed vessel, jar, bo bowl, zun vase, yah steamer, cup, dish, vat, spindle whorl, eet. Among the decorative motifs are the cord-mark, cloud-and-thunder, 米-shaped, diagonaled 回-shaped, mat, chequer, bow-string, banana-leaf, ∽-shaped and wave patterns. The excavation threw light on the aspect of the Shang and Spring-and-Autumn periods archaeological cultures in northern Jiangxi area and has important value to the study of the Shang cultural type in Jiangxi.
